Adolescence and Dog Training Packages
1-2-1 Dog Training - *Fixed price of £80 per hourly session with every 4th Session discounted to £65.
This training option is for general dog training, including adolescent training. I can help with recall, loose lead walking, barking, jumping up, building settling and calmness skills, help with a rehomed dog, building confidence and more.
For teenage dogs, struggles can develop or worsen during adolescence and this is so common. This entirely normal developmental phase can throw up all sorts of issues like pushing boundaries and testing relationships. The environment becomes more reinforcing than you and their hormones are driving them to seek out other dog and rewarding experiences. It is an important time to continue to maintain a positive relationship with your dog and manage blips and prevent rehearsal of unwanted behaviours. Some other really normal struggles are lack of engagement with you, failing recall, overexcitement, mild reactivity, barking, jumping up and ‘forgetting all their previous training’
These sessions take place at your home, garden, an appropriate public space or on a walk.
I can also help with noise reactivity or dog dog reactivity but would chat through this first as you may need a behaviourist if the case is severe (I am nearly qualified but not until 2027) but have had training already.
Please note if booking another session, I will request pre payment on booking, but you can reschedule up to 48hrs beforehand. Unfortunately, I have had to do this to avoid late cancellations or no shows.
What to expect with 1-2-1 Training:
-
Often I would suggest a call to check I am the right trainer for you.
-
At the first session, I would give you some foundation games to get started and some management strategies too. This will immediately start working on the struggle/s identified. You will likely require further sessions but there is no requirement.
-
Further sessions thereafter, would ideally be roughly 2-4 weeks apart, this really is the minimum amount of time to implement a plan and see results. It can be difficult to predict how many are needed as it is dependent on several things.
-
History taking is really important for any behavioural issue and I would ask some behaviour questions (I may send a questionnaire beforehand depending on the issue). Any new behaviour issues I would urge you to consider if pain, gut health or itchyness could be an issue for your dog as this can massively impact their behaviour and should be treated first.
-
You will receive a training plan, video links and other relevant resources. Full support within weekday working hours is offered via what’s app between sessions (if further booked). You are welcome to send in videos or ask questions.
-
* There maybe a small additional charge depending on location, parking costs, out of regular hours etc.
